Commercial Water Softeners
from Raindance Water Systems. Hard water is measure by the level
of Calcium and Magnesium bicarbonates in the water. Hard water
symptoms are soap curd, lime scum in the sink and bathtub. White
chalky scale in your pipes , hot water heaters, shower doors
and fixtures.
One way to treat severe hard
water is with an ion exchange water softener. The commercial
water softener uses sodium or potassium to recharge the cation
resin inside the resin tank and exchanges the calcium & magnesium
ions with sodium or potassium ions. As the hard water passes
through and around the resin, the calcium & magnesium (ions)
attach themselves to the resin bead, exchanging themselves with
the sodium or potassium ions. This process is called "ion
exchange". Every 5 to 10 days (or when needed) The resin
is recharged by rinsing a brine solution from the brine tank
to the resin. The sodium or potassium ions remove the calcium
& magnesium ions off the resin beads; then the excess sodium
is rinsed away.
When the calcium & magnesium
are removed, soap no longer forms a soap curd, and pipes, hot
water heaters and fixtures are scale free.
